Meet the small businesses built on Bounce House in the Small Business Spotlight series. Amy Lucskai, a personal trainer in Colorado, shares her journey to fitness and her mission to empower women to be strong and healthy, with her company, Fit Babe Amy

To begin, Amy, tell us how you have gotten to where you are today - a small business owner.

I became interested in fitness from a very young age. I came from an athletic family, and I became a competitive gymnast when I was around 6 years old. I continued competing well into my teenage years. After graduating high school, I got my first job working at a gym. In my early twenties, I became a personal trainer, as well as a Gymnastics coach.

I started a small business while living overseas, as a Gymnastics coach and trainer to the expat community. I now am training women in person and online, as well as working to obtain a certification to instruct Pop Pilates.

Speak to the mission of Fit Babe Amy. What do you want people to achieve by working with you?

My biggest motivator when working with the women I train, is for them to see their worth and what they are capable of. There is nothing better than helping a women feel comfortable, confident and happy in her own skin. It is something that just makes me feel so much joy to be able to help be a part of. I also work specifically with women who are busy - like moms and businesswomen.

Being able to help women who feel that they are unable to achieve their goals because they don't have time to spare is a good challenge for me. I love showing that fitness is for everyone, and you can achieve your shows regardless of where you start, how much time you have or even what your goals are. Empowering women is what motivates me.

What has been the most rewarding and most challenging aspect to starting your business?

The most rewarding part of my business is being able to change the lives of women everywhere. For some, it is the first time they ever feel strong and healthy. To know I am able to give those tools to someone is priceless.

The most challenging part is always finding the energy some days, but the impact I can have on people's lives and health gives me the motivation and drive day after day.

How has COVID-19 affected business, and what are the ways in which you have made changes to your typical day to day?

I like to look at things as positively as I can. With that being said, COVID-19 has affected my business in a positive way due to the fact that I was able to focus more time on building my business online. I realized, now more than ever, people will be looking for online options. I had to change my plan from working with people in person, to moving everything to online platforms. In has been a learning curve, as well as an adjustment for sure.

For other people, hesitant to move forward with their own business ideas, what advice would you give them?

I would say now is the time. You just need to commit to working on your goals every day. No matter how small the step is towards your business ideas, any step is better than doing nothing.

You get what you put in, so if you put in the hard work and never let go of your dreams, it will pay off. It won't be easy, but it will be worth it.

In the next 5 years, where do you hope to see yourself and Fit Babe Amy?

I have big dreams for the next 5 years when it comes to Fit Babe Amy. I would love to reach as many women as I can online, and in person. I'd love to be hosting retreats, and classes across the country. I hope to have a studio in several locations. As long as I am helping women, I am happy.
